REFLECTION
Experience: At the beginning, I had no idea on what to expect; I
didn't even know what typography was about. I remember missing the first
class, and when I came in the second week, I was quite confused, I quickly
understood that missing even a single class was unforgivable and could
hinder the learning and progress of my work. During the semester, I
struggled quite a bit, but I believe typography taught me the importance of
staying disciplined and consistent in my work, although sometimes it was
very challenging for me to maintain the same work pace, especially with the
e-portfolio.
Observation: I find that after these 14 weeks, I am much more
sensitive to anything related to type, whether it's on a product or outdoors
on a billboard, something I never really paid attention to before.
Additionally, thanks to the tasks we completed, I am more attentive to the
small details of letters, texts, or designs, their characteristics, and
their meanings.
Finding: Overall, I am pleased to have taken this module because it
has also helped me enhance my skills in softwares like Adobe Illustrator and
InDesign. I believe the main skill I gained from this module is
observational, this skill will allow me to be more meticulous in what I do
in the future. Moreover I also think it's important to know how to take
criticism on your work because that's how we learn and after these 14 weeks,
I also realized that there is so much more to learn about typography because
what I know is only a tiny part of it.
